Loksamvad
WASMO publishes Loksamvad, a bi-monthly newsletter in Gujarati. The purpose of the newsletter is to engage the local communities in permanent dialogue on water and sanitation issues.

An integral part of WASMO's IEC strategy, the specific objectives of Loksamvad are:

  • To educate and inform people about the prevailing situation in the water and sanitation sector, primarily at local level but also at national and international levels.
  • To provide a platform for local communities to share their experiences.
The strategy is to distribute at least three copies of the newsletter to all project villages. The target audience includes those who can understand, value and share the information provided in Loksamvad with other community members. Typically, Loksamvad readers include Gram Panchayat and Pani Samiti members, members of CBOs, school principals, teachers, librarians, women leaders, GO-NGOs in the development sector etc. Its readership is not restricted to rural areas alone but also includes small townships which are frequented by the neighbouring villagers.

Loksamvad is a people's medium and hence contributions and feedback from the readers is highly appreciated.

Twenty issues of Loksamvad have been published since it inception in June 2004. The newsletter has a circulation of about 20,000.
