The success of
the project depends upon the extent of community participation
in the planning, implementation, operation and management
stages. WASMO and the Implementation Support Agencies (ISAs) have
been actively engaged in community mobilisation through
campaigns and capacity building and developing people's
institutions to facilitate decentralised decision-making. It is vital that village-level
institutions are suitably equipped and empowered to develop and
manage their own water resources, although the project makes use
of bulk water transfer through the Narmada Canal as a back-up. |
