In-village infrastructure |
|

To ensure safe safe, regular and reliable
drinking water for all in 82 project villages, in-village water
supply system / infrastructure
consisting of elevated storage reservoir (ESR), under ground
sump, stand posts, cattle troughs and wash facilities have been
constructed. |
|
|

Under the project, 84 ESR, 84
sumps, 957 stand posts, 130 cattle troughs and 147 wash
facilities have been constructed. |
|
|
 |
22 workshops and
trainings conducted to educate the community-Pani Samiti
members, operators, women, school children, about importance of
water quality, chlorination, water borne diseases, hygiene
practices, etc. |
|
|
 |
Field test kits for
problem specific parameters distributed in all project villages
to empower the community so that they themselves judge the
safety of their drinking water. |

Mahi Pipeline |
|
|
|
|
All project villages have been connected to Mahi pipeline network through
two zones; Budhel zone covers 34 villages and Tansa zone covers
48 villages. Treatment plants at both the zone have been
constructed to supply safe and assured drinking water to all
project villages. |

Water
Resource Management |
|
|

76 check
dams, 03 tidal control check dams. 24 pond repairing, 21
construction of ponds, 122 well recharge, 83 well up gradation,
147 drainage of water points and 9 injection wells have been
constructed as WRM activities to achieve drinking water security
and strengthen the local sources. |

Pastureland development activity has been taken up to conserve
ground water, improve overall environment through plantations
and produce fodder for cattle. 658 hectors of lands of 36
villages have been developed by Social Forestry Department. 52
van talavadis, 7 matipala and 2 protection trenches also have
been developed. |

|
Environmental sanitation |
|
|
|
 |
312 demo soak pits, 22441 subsidized in 75 villages and 18562 meter
centralized waste water disposal in 8 villages are done to check
waste water disposal on the streets and to improve sanitation
conditions. |
|
|
 |
To promote
individual latrines, stop open defecation and indoctrinate habit
of safe hygiene practices among children and community 460
demonstration latrines and 150 school sanitation corners have
been constructed. Rain roof water harvesting structure with
10,000 liter storage tank is also done in all 149 schools along
with school sanitation corner to facilitate drinking water in
school. |

To inculcate
practices of solid waste disposal and improve cleanliness in the
village 795 dust bins have been placed at public places-
Panchayat office, schools, temples, bus stop, etc and
cleanliness drives campaign has been carried out in all project
villages with active participation of community. |

Community
management and IEC activities |
 |
Three NGOs namely
Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Medhavi and Utthan
worked in the project as an Implementing Support Agency (ISA)
helped community in carrying out the project activities. They
have focused on community participation, institution
development, women empowerment and hygiene promotion activities. |

 |
90 workshops and trainings have been organized for capacity
building and generating awareness among the community including
school children. |
|
|
 |
1854 slogans and 509 wall paintings carrying various programme
related messages were painted on walls of all project villages.
Booklets, posters, stickers, pamphlets, etc promoting health and
hygiene practices were also distributed in all project villages. |
