Mahi Pipeline network: The Mahi
Pipeline network supplies drinking water to the Bhal region of
Ahmedabad district and the rural areas of Bhavnagar and Amreli
districts. Water from this network is made available up to the
sumps of each project village, which then gets connected to the
village water distribution system. The work of Mahi pipeline
network has been carried out by Gujarat Water Supply and
Sewerage Board (GWSSB) and its proportionate cost to WASMO is Rs
2300.67 lakh. |

In-village water supply schemes: The in-village water supply scheme has
been designed to provide at least one tap for every 100 people.
The system comprises an elevated storage reservoir, a sump, a
pump house, stand posts, cattle troughs and snanghats (washing
and bathing area). |

Water
quality surveillance has been given as much importance as supply
of adequate drinking water to all. Water quality surveillance
unit is spreading awareness, keeping constant vigilance on
safety and potability of water and promoting chlorination at
grass root level. |

Environmental sanitation: WASMO and the ISAs undertook a number
of activities to promote sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness at
household, school and village levels. Soak pits, centralized
waste water disposal, demonstration latrines, installation of
dustbins, school sanitation corners have been constructed. |

Water
resources management: Collection, storage and utilisation of
monsoon flow through rainwater harvesting plays a big role in
augmenting ground water resources. A number of steps have been
taken to arrest surface run-off and to recharge ponds and wells.
Check dams have also been constructed to recharge aquifers. |
