Awareness Raising

   Slogan writing

Slogans depicting the importance of water, its conservation and need to consume clean water were painted in all programme villages of all the districts on water structures, panchayat offices, schools and other public places. This helped in sensitising the community on the need for water conservation. It has also led to improved hygiene practices in schools.

   Display of IEC material

Information, Education and Communication campaigns were launched. They included distribution of print material, painting of slogans and holding exhibitions. Various brochures, posters and pamphlets on water quality, hygiene, programme guidelines and pani samiti formation and responsibilities developed by WASMO for the village community were distributed in 421 villages of 11 districts covered under the project.

Capacity Building

   Development of a core team

To provide support to DWSCs in effective implementation of the project, a “Core Team” comprising professionals in the field of water engineering, community mobilisation and documentation and communication have been placed.

Orientation Workshops for Pani Samiti members

Various workshops were organised to sensitise, educate and inform gram panchayat members, village leaders, pani samiti members, school teachers, line department officials and engineers about processes involved in the project and their responsibilities. The workshops provided a forum for the local community to interact with each other and clear doubts and enhanced the understanding among villagers about the implementation process. Several queries posed by sarpanches were cleared. IEC material in the form of brochures and posters informing about the programme, hygiene and health issues as well as implementation guidelines were distributed.

  Pani samiti meetings

Pani samiti meetings were organised by the DWSCs in all the 11 districts for discussions between pani samiti members and line departments to create a better understanding about the project.
