WASMO also
accommodates those who wish to contribute to the
programme as volunteers. The community benefits from the
experience of the volunteer who, in turn, learns in the
process and has the satisfaction of having contributed
to society. |
| |
|
Already 15 persons
have volunteered in activities that range from baseline
surveys, feedback on software activities, follow up on
physical progress, information campaigns on issues such
as personal hygiene, organisation of street plays, and
assistance in implementation of Gram Safai Abhiayans. |

| A four-member
volunteer team in Nakhatrana and Abdasa talukas has
brought about wonders in the hygiene habits of children. |
| |
|
The team visited
more than 25 schools and interacted with the children.
Posters and stickers carrying various messages were
explained and distributed. Messages pertaining to health
and hygiene were explained through games and plays. The
children were revisited several times to monitor change.
The team became so popular that the moment they were
spotted, the children would run up to show their neatly
combed hair and clean and trimmed nails. |
